As a development professional, one of the greatest challenges we face is dealing with rejection. The fact is, we hear the word "No" a lot, but the best fundraisers know not to take it personally. Sometimes a No can help you find your way to a Yes. While many of your fundraising NOs will be passive (e.g., an unopened email, an unreturned phone call, or a rejection letter) there are times when rejection presents an opportunity to have a personal conversation with a donor or corporate representative allows you to listen and learn what is holding them back from committing to your cause.
